Egypt ranks first in Africa in government AI readiness index

Egypt has secured first place in Africa in the 2025 Government AI Readiness Index, reflecting the country’s accelerating use of artificial intelligence across public services and national development initiatives. This is reported by
Sada El-Balad, a partner of TV BRICS.

The ranking was highlighted in an official infographic published by the Information and Decision Support Centre of Egypt’s Cabinet, outlining national efforts to integrate AI technologies for societal benefit. According to the centre, the result comes amid sustained work to establish a comprehensive policy framework that promotes the responsible, effective and ethical use of artificial intelligence.

The 2025 index assesses governments’ capacity to implement AI in public administration, focusing on strategy, governance, digital infrastructure and human capital. Egypt’s top position in Africa underscores its progress in aligning technology policy with long-term development goals.

The Cabinet-affiliated centre noted that applied innovation initiatives have played a key role in this achievement. Among the most notable projects are AI-powered systems for the early detection of breast cancer, as well as speech-to-text solutions integrated into remote litigation and digital justice platforms.

These solutions are designed to enhance service quality, improve accessibility and support more efficient decision-making in critical sectors such as healthcare and the judiciary.
