Egypt sets target for AI to contribute 7.7% of GDP by 2030

Egypt has announced plans to increase the contribution of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to its gross domestic product (GDP) to 7.7 per cent by 2030.

The strategy, unveiled by the Minister of Communications and Information Technology, forms part of the country’s wider digital transformation agenda. This is reported by
Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

The National AI Strategy is built around key pillars, including advanced digital infrastructure, data governance, and regulatory frameworks to support AI integration across multiple sectors.

A central focus is workforce development. Building on previous initiatives that trained half a million people in Information and Communications Technology (ICT), Egypt aims to train 30,000 AI specialists by 2030. The government also expects a quarter of public employees to adopt AI tools to improve efficiency, while ensuring that more than a third of citizens benefit from AI in everyday life.
