Egypt wins Arab Youth Chess Championship

The Egyptian chess team won the Arab Youth Chess Championship, which was held in Egypt. This was reported by
Sada El-Balad, a partner of TV BRICS.

Egyptian athletes topped the overall standings, winning 34 medals: 16 gold, 8 silver and 10 bronze.

In turn, the UAE team finished second with 16 medals: 4 gold, 4 silver and 8 bronze.

In addition to the competitions, the championship featured courses for referees and school instructors aimed at supporting the development of chess in Arab countries.

President of the Egyptian Chess Federation Mukhtar Ammara noted that the championship was held to a high standard thanks to its strong organisation and the quality of the participants. He also thanked the Egyptian Ministry of Youth and Sports and the country’s Olympic Committee for their support in hosting the tournament.

The Arab Youth Chess Championship was held in Egypt from 28 July to 5 August 2026.
