Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research holds meeting of Ministerial Commission
The meeting brought together key representatives from the education and labour sectors to address the critical issue of preparing a workforce capable of meeting the demands of a rapidly changing global economy.
The committee was chaired by Ayman Ashour, Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.
The committee emphasised the need for inter-ministerial cooperation to develop and improve education and training systems. This work, in line with Egypt’s 2030 Vision, aims to create a competitive workforce. This is reported by

Key areas of discussion were the development of students’ skills at pre-university level, at university and in subsequent employment. Ministers noted that this is critical to prepare graduates for the changing demands of the labour market and to support government initiatives to localise manufacturing and improve the quality of education.
The meeting explored ways to develop curricula that meet labour market needs, provide real employment opportunities for graduates, and bridge the gap between the educational process and the workplace. The participants also discussed mechanisms of interaction between university graduates and the requirements of different sectors, as well as the need for more active co-operation between universities and companies.
Ministers acknowledged the importance of a two-pronged approach to linking education and the labour market: an academic approach represented by university programmes and a vocational approach implemented through university excellence centres. These centres are designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and the practical requirements of the labour market, allowing students to acquire the necessary practical skills.
The meeting also discussed ongoing efforts to improve the level of university graduates to meet the requirements of the labour market, as well as opportunities for cooperation between relevant ministries to strengthen and expand these initiatives.
The meeting concluded with a decision to establish a joint committee comprising representatives from the relevant ministries to study in detail the needs of the labour market, identify its priorities, and ensure that educational outcomes are aligned with these priorities.
