Egypt’s Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation Alaa Farouk announced high growth rates for strawberry exports. According to him, deliveries to Russia in 2025 increased by 150 per cent compared to last year’s figures. This is reported by
MENA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The total production and export of this product from Egypt increased by 25 per cent over the year. The geography of sales has expanded: frozen strawberries are now purchased by 86 countries, compared to 70 a year earlier.
Alaa Farouk noted that there is currently high demand for exports and contracts for cultivation are in place. He predicts that in the coming days, prices for berries on the domestic market will rise, which is a positive development for farmers.
The minister explained the early arrival of the harvest on the market this season by the influence of climate change and abnormally high temperatures.
Earlier, Egypt had already reported success in increasing exports of agricultural products, including citrus fruits, potatoes and beans, to various regions of the world.
