Ethiopia earns US$617 million from exporting products in eight months

Revenues from the supply of local goods rose year-on-year

Ethiopia’s economy earned $617 million from exports of products manufactured in the country in the last eight months of the current fiscal year, as reported
ENA, citing the Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration.

The ministry said it was referring to export goods whose production is supervised by the ministry. The ministry said revenues from product shipments rose by US$80 million compared to the same period last year.

Most of Ethiopia’s profits come from exports of grains and oilseeds, the ministry pointed out, noting that rising demand for soya beans, red beans and mung beans in the international market are factors that have contributed to the increase in revenues. The country’s sesame production has also increased and investment in agriculture has been actively attracted recently.
