Ethiopia increases forest cover to 23.6%

The country is investing in the environment to increase forest cover

Ethiopia’s forest has increased to 23.6 per cent by 2023 from 17.2 per cent in 2019, according to Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed, emphasising the need to further increase this progress. This is reported by
ENA.

According to the source, Ethiopia has been diligently implementing the annual planting programme for the past five years under the Green Legacy Initiative launched by Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in 2019. 

The Ethiopian Prime Minister emphasised that the main target for this year is to get 40 billion seedlings out of the total target of 50 billion.
