Ethiopia to set up council to track country’s digital development measures

The government has outlined the implementation of a strategy to bring technology into society

Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed has announced the government’s progress on the country’s digital transformation and plans to set up a special council to oversee the issue. This is reported by
ENA.

The politician gave an interim review of the Digital Ethiopia 2025 strategy. He said the country is on a steady path to realising the initiative but investments are required to support innovators. The Prime Minister said reliable power supply, data infrastructure as well as a good level of cyber security are contributing to its realisation.

Abiy Ahmed reminded that Digital Ethiopia 2025 is part of Ethiopia’s reform agenda, the national ten-year plan and the African Union’s continental digital transformation strategy.

Earlier, it was reported that the country opened the largest business incubator focused on information and communication technology (ICT).
