Ethiopian athletes collect 22 medals at African Games in Ghana

The delegation placed eighth in the medal tally of the sporting event

Ethiopian Minister of State for Culture and Sports Mesfin Chernet and Athletics Federation President Derartu Tulu met the athletes at the Bole International Airport.

The Ghanaian capital hosted the African sporting event from 8 February to 23 March with over five thousand athletes from 53 countries competing in 29 disciplines. This is reported by
Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

Ethiopia was represented by 165 athletes who competed in athletics, football, swimming, table tennis, boxing, basketball, cycling and world taekwondo. Ethiopia won nine gold, eight silver and five bronze medals.

The African Games, owned and organized by the African Union on behalf of its member states, bring together athletes from across the continent every four years, one year before the Olympics.
