National power in the coming years will be shaped by technology leadership and control, rather than by the size of the economy alone, according to Debjani Ghosh, Distinguished Fellow at NITI Aayog (think tank for the Government of India).
Speaking at the launch of the AI for Viksit Bharat Roadmap: The Opportunity for Accelerated Economic Growth and the NITI Frontier Tech Repository, Ghosh emphasised that a nation’s global influence will increasingly depend on its technological capabilities. This is reported by
ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.
“It is more and more going to be decided by technology leadership,” she said.
She stressed that countries securing supply chains in areas such as artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum technologies and biotechnology would gain a decisive advantage.
Experts also highlighted the significance of the AI for Viksit Bharat initiative, calling it timely and transformative. They said the roadmap should deliver three outcomes: unlocking India’s economic growth potential, creating skills and jobs for young people in the AI-driven economy, and addressing fundamental challenges such as healthcare and education.
