Representatives of leading media outlets and analytical institutions highlighted the importance of cooperation between SCO member states.

“The member countries of the Organisation have different approaches to solving many issues, but it is China that serves as a hub for strengthening dialogue, helping us to listen to one another and develop solutions,” said Irina Akulovich, Director General of BelTA, a TV BRICS partner, during the meeting.

Meanwhile, Sun Zhuangzhi, Director of the Institute of Russian, Eastern European and Central Asian Studies at Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, stressed the importance of humanitarian ties and the involvement of NGOs and young people in building trust and supporting sustainable development.

In addition, summit participants emphasised the need for collaboration between media and think tanks to ensure objective coverage of the Organisation’s activities and to strengthen public opinion within SCO countries.

Aleksander Lukin, Academic Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia of the Russian Academy of Sciences, called on Chinese and Russian counterparts to step up cooperation.

“Strengthening collaboration between Chinese and Russian think tanks contributes to mutual understanding between our peoples, scholars and governments. Furthermore, such cooperation helps to enhance the quality of analysis and academic knowledge, promoting it both domestically and globally,” he note.

The concept of building a community with a shared future for humanity, which became a key theme of the summit, promotes the unification of nations in addressing global challenges and achieving sustainable development. It was proposed by Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2012.
