Festival of Russian Culture is organised in South India
More than 4 thousand spectators are expected to attend the event
The Festival of Russian Culture in South India started at the Russian House in Chennai. The centrepiece of the event was a performance by the creative team of the Ogarev Mordovia State University.
The audience, including Russian diplomats, representatives of foreign diplomatic missions, artists and students, plunged into the atmosphere of traditional Russian and Mordovian culture. The guests of the festival not only enjoyed folk dances and songs, but also had a chance to see original Mordovian national costumes, jewellery, lapti, valenki, and ancient musical instruments.
Dmitry Glushko, Rector of the Ogarev Mordovia State University, also came to support the artists.
According to Aleksander Dodonov, Director of the Russian House in Chennai, the students’ performance aroused great interest among the Indian audience. Inspired by the warm reception, the artists continue their tour of South India, presenting their programme in Hyderabad and Bangalore.
