Hanoi’s tourism sector has demonstrated robust growth in the first four months of 2026, welcoming an estimated 12.14 million visitors, a 20.9 per cent increase year-on-year. Total tourism revenue exceeded approximately US$1.93 billion, marking a rise of 22.8 per cent, according to the city’s Department of Tourism.
In April alone, the Vietnamese capital received around 3.09 million visitors, up 13.3 per cent compared with the same period last year. Of these, approximately 780,000 were international travellers, representing a 6.9 per cent increase.
The latest figures highlight sustained recovery and growing momentum in Hanoi’s tourism industry, as authorities pursue plans to attract more than 12 million international visitors annually by 2030, reports
VNA, a partner of TV BRICS.
The city’s hospitality sector has expanded in parallel with rising demand. Hanoi now offers 3,761 accommodation facilities with over 71,000 rooms, including 66 hotels and serviced apartment complexes rated between one and five stars. Average occupancy rates in April reached nearly 70 per cent, up more than three percentage points compared with the previous year.
Tourism infrastructure and services have also improved. A total of 61 certified establishments providing food services, shopping and entertainment for visitors are currently in operation, contributing to an enhanced travel experience.
The sector continues to operate at scale, supported by nearly 2,000 international travel companies, more than 500 domestic firms and close to 10,000 licensed tour guides. Authorities have introduced additional measures to ensure service quality, safety and security during peak travel periods, including major national holidays.
Looking ahead, Hanoi’s tourism authorities have outlined key priorities for May, including finalising long-term development plans, preparing a promotional strategy for 2027–2030, and advancing rural tourism initiatives linked to broader rural development programmes.
