High-tech hospital is under construction in Zimbabwe

New airport medical complex will expand emergency evacuation capabilities and attract tourists

Construction of a modern hospital has begun in Victoria Falls. The hospital is being built both to enhance local residents’ access to high-quality medical care and to establish the region as a premier destination for medical tourists. This is reported by
ZBC News, a partner of TV BRICS.

In its first phase, the hospital will open with 36 inpatient beds, with plans to expand to 108 beds to meet projected demand. The complex will feature world-class operating theatres and specialised departments, providing a full range of comprehensive treatments.

The new hospital will directly affect not only healthcare but also the infrastructure of Victoria Falls Airport. The emergence of a modern medical base will allow the reception of wide-body airliners for emergency evacuation and delivery of patients. In addition, the facility is expected to attract tourists seeking both recreation and medical treatment. It will create jobs, boost foreign-currency inflows, and further stimulate the local economy.

Other countries are also actively working to improve their healthcare systems. The province of San Juan, Argentina, has received twelve fully equipped ambulances for hospitals and medical units, according to Ahora San Juan, a partner of TV BRICS. This will reduce response times and improve patient transportation in emergencies. In addition, the zoonotic diseases department received two mobile operating rooms, and the provincial immunisation program received a mobile vaccination centre.
