India and Argentina sign strategic plan to boost agricultural cooperation

India and Argentina have signed a comprehensive work plan for 2025–2027 aimed at deepening cooperation in agricultural research, technology exchange, and capacity building. This is reported by
ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

The agreement, formalised between the Indian Council of Agricultural Research and Argentina’s National Institute of Agricultural Technology, was exchanged by the Secretary of India’s Department of Agricultural Research and Education and the Argentine Ambassador to India.

The work plan outlines collaboration across key areas, including sustainable agronomy, crop and livestock biotechnology, digital agriculture, natural resource management, and value chain development. It also emphasises joint efforts on zero tillage, farm mechanisation, micro-irrigation, fertigation, biosafety, and phytosanitary measures.

Implementation will involve joint research projects, expert-level dialogues, training programmes, and study visits. Planned initiatives include greenhouse vegetable production, floriculture, temperate fruit cultivation, post-harvest management, functional food development, precision livestock farming, veterinary diagnostics, and waste-to-wealth technologies.

Cooperation will also extend to oilseed and pulse value chains, agricultural mechanisation including zero-tillage and cotton harvesting machinery, horticultural infrastructure, and planting material exchange.

The India-Argentina agreement reflects a broader global trend of strategic partnerships, as BRICS+ countries increasingly pursue collaboration across technology, research, trade, and innovation. Similar initiatives across Latin America, Asia, and Africa show how international cooperation, knowledge exchange, and capacity building can strengthen economic ties, support sustainable development, and foster long-term regional and global integration.

In a parallel development, Belarus and Zimbabwe are exploring expanded collaboration beyond existing engagements, focusing on agriculture, industrial development, energy, pharmaceuticals, and water management. This is reported by
The Herald, a partner of TV BRICS. Discussions between senior officials and high-level visits have led to the identification of new projects aimed at sustainable socio-economic growth, including farm mechanisation initiatives that enhance food security and support domestic agricultural production.

China and Brazil have also launched a joint space research laboratory and radioastronomy programme to advance technologies in astronomical observation, deep-space exploration, and radioastronomy. This is reported by
Brasil de Fato, a partner of TV BRICS. The collaboration enables Brazilian scientists to participate in cutting-edge international projects, strengthen expertise in instrumentation, sensors, and data processing, and foster technological applications in agriculture, environmental monitoring, and education. The laboratory will serve as a permanent hub for research exchanges, joint projects, and capacity building in strategic scientific fields.

In a related development, Indian and Ethiopian officials have agreed to expand bilateral cooperation across multiple sectors. Ethiopian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Hadra Abera met with India’s Secretary of Economic Relations, Sudhakar Dalela, to review historical ties and explore new avenues for collaboration, as reported by
Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of TV BRICS. Both sides highlighted trade, agriculture, education, transport, health, science and technology, and artificial intelligence as priority areas. The meeting also reinforced coordination in multilateral frameworks, including the UN and BRICS, underscoring a shared vision for strengthening long-term partnerships.
