India explores international measures to incentivise the utilisation of key natural resources

India’s Ministry of Mines is organising an international workshop next Wednesday to promote global action on critical minerals

The event will bring together ambassadors and heads of mission from various countries as well as representatives of Indian companies to discuss the role of government and industry in unifying the strategies developed by the Group of 20 (G20). This is reported by
Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.

Government officials say India has brought unique perspectives due to its diverse economy, technological superiority and commitment to the principles of sustainable development.

During the G20 presidency, which will end on 30 November, India has promoted collaborative solutions that benefit both the Indian people and the world at large, based on the principle of ‘The World is One Family’ (Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam).

Ministry officials point out that the New Delhi Declaration, approved unanimously at the G20 summit last year, deals with critical minerals issues and takes into account the principles of voluntary high standards.

The Mines Division, a member of the Energy Transition Working Group (ETWG), actively participated in the discussions and was instrumental in recognising the role of critical minerals in the energy transition, the spokesperson said.

In line with the New Delhi Declaration, Indian ministries and agencies are actively working to integrate the Indian approach into future G20 activities, the spokesperson adds.
