India hosted the National Startup Day

The country has become one of the main centres of attraction in the global startup ecosystem

Speaking to the media on the National Startup Day, Indian Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan said: “Engineering graduates are showing their ability to innovate. Thus, more than 100 startups have already become unicorn companies.”

A unicorn is a privately held company, a startup, valued at $1 billion and above.

National Startup Day aims at recognising and celebrating the extraordinary growth and contribution of the startup community to the Indian economy. This is reported by ANI, a partner of TV BRICS.

“India will soon become the centre for solving the world’s problems of the 21st century through startups. Our country’s system of governance has become a role model,” – Pradhan added.

“Startups are going to be the basics of New India. When India celebrates 100 years of independence, startups will be playing an essential role”, – the Prime Minister said while interacting with startups.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier declared January 16 the National Startup Day, which recognises the extraordinary growth and contribution of the startup community to the Indian economy.
