India’s electronics manufacturing sector is on track to more than double its output, driven by rising global trust in the country’s capabilities over the past decade. Minister of Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the strong momentum in investments, production, and job creation. This is reported by
News9, a partner of TV BRICS.
Against an ambitious investment target of approximately US$7.1 billion, the government has already received applications totalling around US$ 13.8 billion. Production targets of roughly US$ 55 billion have been exceeded, with companies projecting output of more than US$ 124 million, more than double the initial goal.
Employment prospects have also surged. The sector was initially expected to generate 91,600 jobs, but the latest estimates indicate potential employment for around 141,000 people, more than 50 per cent above the target.
Vaishnaw described the figures as “very significant” and called on the department to prepare a detailed report on the applications received, the sectors involved, and the components attracting the most support.
