India to install solar panels on the roofs of 10 million residential buildin

The initiative aims to provide electricity to low and middle-income people

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting at his residence in New Delhi to launch the Pradhanmantri Suryodaya Yojana programme.

The initiative aims to provide electricity to low and middle-income people by installing solar panels on rooftops and generate additional income through surplus electricity generated. Such panels are expected to be placed on the roofs of 10 million homes.

The Indian politician emphasised that the installation of solar panels will reduce electricity bills. This is reported by
Trinity Mirror, a partner of TV BRICS.

The Prime Minister also ordered the launch of a major national campaign to inform the public about the importance of mass utilisation of such panels on roofs.

“Residents of India should have their own solar installations on residential rooftops. This will not only reduce electricity bills but also make India self-sufficient in energy,” Modi said.
