India to provide free artificial intelligence training to 1 million citizens

The programme will prioritise outreach to village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs) as part of a broader national strategy

The Government of India has announced that at least 1 million citizens will receive free training in artificial intelligence (AI) through the Common Services Centres (CSCs), a key initiative under the Indian Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The programme will prioritise outreach to village-level entrepreneurs (VLEs) as part of a broader national strategy to expand digital literacy and inclusion. This is reported by
IANS, a partner of TV BRICS.

Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw confirmed that CSCs have reached nearly 90 per cent of India’s villages, making them the most effective channel to deliver digital transformation to rural communities.

Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Jitin Prasada reiterated the government’s commitment to bridging the digital divide.

He also noted that the number of CSCs has expanded from 83,000 in 2014 to nearly 550,000 today, with more than 74,000 women VLEs actively contributing to national progress.
