Indian authorities discuss renewable energy sector development with industry representatives

The meeting was an important step towards strengthening cooperation between the country’s authorities and market stakeholders

The Indian Minister of State for the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), Shri Shripad Yesso Naik, held meetings with industry representatives where the two sides discussed incentive schemes to boost production in the renewable energy sector. This is reported by

Yesso Naik assured renewable energy industry associations of the government’s support, emphasising the authorities’ commitment to accelerate India’s transition to a low-carbon economy.

Bhupinder Singh Bhalla, Secretary, Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, also attended the meeting. He added that the department intends to support initiatives to boost growth and innovation in the industry.

As India ramps up investments in renewable energy, the government plans to tender 50 GW of solar and wind capacity per year over the next five financial years.
