Indian businessmen explore investment opportunities in Cuba

The meeting was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of Fidel Castro’s first visit to India

Bangalore-based businessmen analysed investment opportunities in Cuba during a meeting to mark the 50th anniversary of Fidel Castro’s first visit to India, said diplomatic sources.

At the event organised by the Indian Economic and Trade Organisation (IETO) in the presence of Cuban Ambassador Alejandro Simancas, the businessmen reviewed the preparations for the upcoming Havana International Fair in November this year.

In the presence of 100 participants, Simancas invited companies from Karnataka state to join the Asian country’s delegation to attend the event in Cuba and take advantage of bilateral business opportunities. The country is considered the largest trade exchange in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Cuban diplomat noted the great contribution of Fidel Castro to the development of bilateral relations and strengthening the foundations of friendship, dialogue, respect and cooperation that currently exist between the countries.

For his part, Asif Iqbal, president of IETO, emphasised the role of Fidel Castro as one of the leaders of the 20th century struggle for justice and a better world.

In addition, during the meeting, it was announced the appointment of local businessman Manandi Ramesh as trade commissioner to do business with Cuba within the organisation, as reported by Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS.
