The Government of Central Sulawesi Province has reaffirmed its commitment to accelerating the transition to clean energy by reducing reliance on fossil fuels and coal-fired power. Central Sulawesi Governor Anwar Hafid emphasised that future electricity development will prioritise solar power as a sustainable alternative, reports
ANTARA.
Anwar Hafid stated that solar power plants are being expanded as part of a long-term strategy to provide stable electricity supplies while protecting the environment. The initiative supports efforts to modernise the energy system without causing ecological harm.
Solar installations have already been introduced at several government facilities, including key administrative buildings in the provincial capital, Palu. Authorities plan to gradually equip all government offices across Central Sulawesi with rooftop solar panels, making public institutions a leading example of renewable energy use.
The province’s geographical conditions, with abundant sunshine throughout the year, make solar energy a practical and strategic solution. Regional officials noted that the transition is expected not only to support environmental goals but also to improve energy resilience.
In addition to sustainability benefits, the use of solar technology is projected to reduce electricity operating costs by up to 40 per cent. The source states the resulting savings are expected to strengthen public budget management and allow greater investment in social and development programmes for local communities.
