Indonesia and Brazil strengthen cooperation in semiconductors, aerospace and advanced technologies

Indonesia and Brazil are advancing bilateral cooperation in high-technology sectors, with a new focus on semiconductors, aerospace engineering and biofuels as both nations seek to strengthen innovation, research capacity and industrial competitiveness.

The initiative centres on expanding collaboration between universities and research institutions, creating new opportunities for joint scientific projects, knowledge exchange and specialist training in emerging technologies, as reported by

Indonesia’s Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, highlighted the growing momentum in relations between the two countries, expressing confidence that deeper academic cooperation will generate tangible benefits for both economies. He also encouraged wider engagement between researchers and university faculty members through collaborative research programmes and innovation partnerships.

A key area of cooperation involves advanced semiconductor technologies, which are increasingly recognised as critical to future industrial development and digital transformation. Planned programmes will support the training of highly skilled specialists in semiconductor manufacturing, integrated circuit design, microfabrication and materials science.

As part of the initiative, Indonesian postgraduate students are expected to gain access to advanced research and training opportunities in Brazil, helping to strengthen the talent pipeline needed to support next-generation industries.

The partnership is also exploring opportunities in aerospace engineering and sustainable biofuel technologies, reflecting a shared commitment to expanding cooperation across strategically important sectors that contribute to economic diversification and technological advancement.

Experts note that stronger links between universities, research centres and innovation ecosystems can play a crucial role in accelerating scientific breakthroughs and supporting industrial modernisation. The collaboration is expected to facilitate the exchange of expertise, promote joint research projects and encourage the development of future technology leaders.
