Indonesia demonstrates lowest inflation rate among ASEAN countries in June

Strong manufacturing, trade, and agriculture underpins positive economic outlook

Indonesia’s economy continues to show resilience, supported by solid growth across key sectors and stable macroeconomic indicators. Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati highlighted these positive trends during the Plenary Session of the House of Representatives (DPR) in Jakarta, as reported by
Antara News.

“The manufacturing industry, which accounts for 19.25 per cent of national GDP, grew at a healthy 4.55 per cent year-on-year in the first quarter of 2025,” she said. The trade sector expanded by 5.03 per cent, while agriculture saw robust growth of 10.52 per cent, helped by easier access to subsidised fertiliser.

From January to June, rice production rose to 19.09 million tonnes – a 13.2 per cent increase compared to the same period last year – marking the highest output since 2018. This, Indrawati noted, strengthens Indonesia’s position as a leading rice producer in ASEAN.

The Minister urged continued efforts to sustain this progress, pointing out that Indonesia’s inflation rate in June stood at just 1.9 per cent – the lowest among G20 and ASEAN nations.
