Indonesia launches major regenerative tourism campaign to attract eco-conscious travellers

This approach aims to attract tourists who wish to contribute positively to both nature and society

The Indonesian government is actively promoting regenerative tourism, a concept that goes beyond sustainability by focusing on restoring the environment and empowering local communities, as reported by
ANTARA.

As part of its international outreach, the Ministry of Tourism has launched the 2024 Wonderful Indonesia #KeepTheWonder campaign, which encourages travellers to engage in eco-friendly and culturally respectful tourism. This approach aims to attract tourists who wish to contribute positively to both nature and society.

The ministry is also strengthening ties with global travel agents and tour operators by offering incentives and support to ensure continued cooperation and visibility in key markets.

Promotional activities have already taken place in some European countries, with further business meetings planned in China, Malaysia, and India, all aimed at positioning Indonesia as a premier destination in Southeast Asia.

To facilitate international arrivals, the government is expanding visa-on-arrival services and considering visa-free access for selected priority countries. Efforts are also underway to boost the number of direct international flights.
