Indonesia strengthens trade links with Saudi Arabia through new coffee export route

Indonesia has opened a new chapter in its export development with the launch of a direct trade route for Arabica coffee from the slopes of Mount Argopuro in East Java to Saudi Arabia. This is reported by
VNA, a partner of TV BRICS.

This initiative aims to strengthen Indonesia’s transport and export infrastructure, enabling small farmers and medium-sized enterprises to access high-value markets more effectively. According to Bagus Rachman, Deputy for Business Affairs at Indonesia’s Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, the project demonstrates how domestic production can be integrated into global supply chains through modern logistics and improved regional transport links.

According to the source, Indonesia is among the world’s leading coffee producers, with over 90 per cent of plantations managed by smallholder farmers. The country’s coffee exports increased from 279.94 million kilograms in 2023 to 316.72 million kilograms in 2024.
