Indonesia recorded 11.43 million foreign tourist arrivals between January and September 2025 – a 10.22 per cent increase compared with the same period last year, as reported by
ANTARA with reference to Statistics Indonesia (BPS). The growth underscores the country’s ongoing recovery and expansion in the tourism sector.

Accommodation accounted for the largest share of tourist expenditure at 37.31 per cent, followed by food and beverages (19.4 per cent), shopping and souvenirs (10.98 per cent), and entertainment (8.78 per cent).

In September 2025 alone, foreign tourist arrivals totalled 1.39 million, marking a 9.04 per cent year-on-year increase. Malaysia remained the top source of visitors at 19.53 per cent.

Outbound travel among Indonesian citizens grew as well, with 695.9 thousand trips abroad recorded in September – a 5.25 per cent increase from the same month in 2024. Malaysia and Saudi Arabia were the top destinations.
