Innopolis summarises the results of the forum on digital independence in business and education DID 2023

The third annual Russian forum on digital independence in business and education Digital Innopolis Days (DID 2023) took place in Innopolis on 19-20 October. TV BRICS was the media partner of the event.
As part of the forum, a roundtable discussion was held on the theme: “Effective teaching methods through the eyes of BRICS students”.
Students, teachers and experts from the largest Russian and foreign educational institutions of the BRICS countries projected the development of the education system in the following areas: effective teaching methods in the BRICS countries, digital tools for implementation in education processes, attractiveness of Russian education, and a student’s career path. The roundtable participants made presentations of BRICS youth initiatives and discussed the global experience of effective learning models.
Alexandra Burman, Head of International Projects at TV BRICS, took part in the event as a speaker. She made a presentation on “Promoting the attractiveness of Russian education through the national media of BRICS countries”.
“TV BRICS initiated information interaction with educational institutions in the BRICS countries, the aim of which is to support inter-university cooperation and promote a positive image of educational institutions of the group states in the global media space. In particular, by covering the activities of Russian universities and disseminating materials through the TV BRICS partner network, it is possible to increase the recognisability and attractiveness of Russian educational institutions abroad”

“In March this year, we launched a weekly show of programmes and films on Brazil’s UNIVESP TV, which aims to increase access to free quality public higher education in the state of Sao Paulo. Earlier this year, we signed a cooperation agreement with Peoples’ Friendship University of Russia (RUDN) aimed at promoting a positive image of Russian higher education and science in the BRICS countries. Nowadays TV BRICS cooperates with more than 20 higher education institutions in the five countries,” she added.
In his turn, Artem Fomin, Head of the International Youth Cooperation and Tourism Division of the Department of State Youth Policy and Educational Activities of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, spoke about the peculiarities of the Russian education system.
“Our unique education system goes beyond the borders of the Russian Federation, and our universities open their branches abroad. We sign many agreements between universities. Education is, first of all, a living organism, it is people. There are almost 4.5 million people in Russia and those educational institutions that belong to the Russian educational system, but are located abroad, of which 380 thousand are foreign students,” he said.
Director of the Chinese technology company Zeng Hui said that many students from other countries, who come to China and receive education there, create their own business initiatives and begin to actively develop entrepreneurial activities in the PRC: “And we, in turn, provide them with many opportunities for them to continue to do so, to develop technologies. We teach them the language and also teach them the basics of diplomatic etiquette. China has one of the most competitive business communities in the world. This country is developing advanced technology and innovation, and there are many opportunities for students from different countries.”
Evgeny Bobrov, Vice-Rector – Head of the Department of Academic Policy and Organisation of Educational Activities of ANO HE “Innopolis University”, spoke about the attractiveness of Russian education.
“We have an extensive internship programme for students. There are also international universities with whom we work on scientific projects. In addition, we have student exchange programmes with other universities. Our students have the opportunity to study abroad. And since the teaching is in English, so foreigners can come to us to learn and develop,” he said.
Ketan Kotecha, Dean of Engineering at Symbiosis International University of India, said that Russian students are already studying with them, especially in technological and medical specialities. He noted that it is necessary to discuss simplification of the process of bringing Indian students to the BRICS countries.
It should be noted that the third annual Russian forum on digital independence in business and education, Digital Innopolis Days, was attended by representatives of major technology companies, the Boris Shchukin Theatre Institute, Skolkovo, leading Russian universities and industry ministries.
The topics of the forum focused on information security, the development of the video game industry and Russia’s human resources potential, as well as covering the work of Digital Chairs and Advanced Engineering Schools.
