Inspection visits to schools have begun in South Africa

Provincial governments assess school readiness for the 2024 school year

From 17 to 19 January, the Speaker of the North West Province of South Africa, Basetsana R. S. Dantjie, together with members of the provincial legislature, will conduct inspection visits to various schools in the region. The aim is to check and assess their readiness for the 2024 school year.

In addition, the Gauteng Provincial Government, represented by Premier Panyaza Lesufi, spearheaded the school opening programme on Wednesday, 17 January, to mark the start of the 2024 school year.

Premier Lesufi, together with Education Minister Matome Chiloane and Infrastructure Development Minister Lebohang Maile, launched the Back to School campaign at Kgatoentle Secondary School in Ga-Rankuwa.

Members of the Executive Council (MEC) will take part in monitoring visits across the province to monitor the readiness of schools and Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres for the first day of teaching and learning. This is reported by
the official website of the South African government.

The school year in South Africa runs from mid-January to the end of November.
