International Forum “Primakov Readings” to bring together international experts from 20 countries in Moscow

The 12th International Forum “Primakov Readings” will take place in Moscow on 23–24 June. Around 50 experts from 20 countries, including China, India, Iran, Uzbekistan, Russia and Belarus, will take part in the event. The theme of the
forum is “A World Without Rules: A Power Game?”

Leading Russian and international specialists in international security, global politics and economics, as well as representatives of public organisations, diplomats and government officials, have been invited to attend. Participants will include Aide to the President of the Russian Federation Yury Ushakov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

Forum participants will share their assessments of emerging scenarios for the world order, discuss barriers and risks affecting global trade and investment, and examine international competition in the field of artificial intelligence.

“(Under current conditions), the value of the remaining ‘anchors of stability’ is increasing, as is the demand for strengthening alternative international institutions. Such powerful ‘anchors’ include Russia–China and Russia–India relations, while the institutions include BRICS, the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO), the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and several others,” said Academician Aleksander Dynkin, President of the E. M. Primakov National Research Institute of World Economy and International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IMEMO).

The event is organised by IMEMO and the E. M. Primakov Centre for Foreign Policy Cooperation. This year, IMEMO marks its 70th anniversary.

The TV BRICS International Media Network is the forum’s international information partner.

The first International Forum “Primakov Readings” was held in 2015. Since then, the annual international gathering of experts in international relations and the world economy has become a respected international platform for discussing scenarios for the development of international relations, challenges in the field of international security, and new models of interaction among actors in global politics.
