The 13th International Sports Forum “Russia: Country of Sports” has concluded in Samara, where the member states of the Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) adopted the Samara Declaration. The document establishes the principles of equal partnership in global sport.
“The declaration enshrines the key principles of our cooperation: equal partnership, rejection of double standards, and respect for cultural diversity,” noted Russian Minister of Sport Mikhail Degtyarev.
During the forum, the first meeting of sports ministers of the ACD member states was held. Following the meeting, a working group on sports development was established to ensure the practical implementation of the agreements reached. This was announced by ACD Secretary-General Nasser Riden Thamer Al-Motairi during the plenary session, which became the culmination of the RSP forum.
The forum brought together more than 5,000 participants from Russia and 58 countries. Among the participants were 27 representatives of foreign agencies and organisations, over 60 regional ministers of sport from Russia, 76 heads of national sports federations, and 46 Olympic champions.
Over three days, 36 business events were held, focusing on the development of children’s sport, modern sports technologies, and international cooperation. The TV BRICS International Media Network acted as the international media partner of the forum.
One of the key sessions of the forum was the open lesson “Phygital Sport: The Future That Has Arrived Today.”
“The new phygital movement, which is now developing independently of everyone, has become international and already unites 120 countries. It combines physical, traditional, and modern digital sport. To succeed, one must evolve both in the virtual world and in the physical one,” said Russian Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Forum’s Organising Committee Dmitry Chernyshenko in his speech.
The International Sports Forum “Russia: Country of Sports” is held annually by order of the President of Russia. This year’s main theme was “Sport for the Future: Winning Together.” The event traditionally serves as a platform for signing agreements between sports organisations. The outcome of this year’s forum was the signing of 100 cooperation agreements between national sports federations and organisations, ministries, and business representatives.
