During the Qiz Qalasi Dam opening ceremony, Minister of Energy Ali Akbar Mehrabian mentioned that the US$600 million Khudafarin and Qiz Qalasi Dams’ completion will contribute to the operation of a network of dams constructed on the Aras River. This is reported by

According to the minister, Iran has achieved great strides in the building and management of 200 sizeable reservoir dams, more than 90 per cent of which were put into service following the Islamic Revolution’s triumph.

Tehran hopes to combat floods, control water supplies during dry spells, and maximise the utilisation of soil and water resources by building this dam. 

According to the source, rich natural and soil resources are the main foundation for the advancement of agriculture, economic development through the construction of infrastructure and modernization of traditional agriculture, and the growth of tourism.
