Iran rises to 7th place in global steel production ranking

Iran has climbed three positions to become the world’s seventh-largest steel producer, according to the latest data released by the World Steel Association. This is reported by
Mehr News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The country produced 3.3 million tonnes of steel in October 2025, regaining the 7th position it had previously held earlier in the year. The monthly output reflects a 12 per cent increase compared with October 2024.

The official figures show that Iran manufactured an average of 25.4 million tonnes of steel between January and October 2025. Despite the October surge, this ten-month total marks a slight decline of around one per cent from the same period last year.

Iran’s ranking shifted throughout 2025: the country placed 7th in March, April and May before slipping to 10th in June, where it remained until September. The October rebound returned Iran to the upper tier of global producers.

China and India remained the top two steelmakers in October, followed by Russia, Iran, and Brazil.

According to the source, Iran continues to dominate regional output, accounting for the majority of steel production in West Asia.
