Iran intends to become a member of the New Development Bank (NDB) in the near future. This was announced by the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran, Abdolnaser Hemmati, during a visit to India. His remarks were reported by the Iranian government’s official news
portal.
“The most significant outcome of cooperation between BRICS member states is the establishment of the New Development Bank, and our country will soon become a member of this bank,” said Abdolnaser Hemmati.
Hemmati expressed Iran’s desire to develop bilateral and trilateral monetary and financial cooperation with other members of the group.
The Governor of the Central Bank of Iran noted India’s efforts during its Chairship of the group and emphasised that active cooperation between the two countries had already begun in the financial and banking sectors, as well as in the digital economy.
