Iranian athletes take second place at World Wushu Championships in Brazil

The Iranian wushu team (Chinese martial arts) achieved impressive results at the 17th World Championships, which took place in the Brazilian capital, Brasilia. The athletes won a total of ten medals and took second place in the overall team standings, according to
IRNA, a partner of TV BRICS.

Iranian wushu athletes proved themselves in Sanda and Taolu disciplines in both men’s and women’s categories. The team brought home six gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

China took first place in the medal standings with 16 awards, while athletes from Malaysia took third place.

The World Wushu Championships are one of the most prestigious competitions in this martial art.

Athletes from the United Arab Emirates also distinguished themselves on the international stage. At the 7th Asian Jiu-Jitsu Championship, which ended in Abu Dhabi, the UAE team won 18 medals of various denominations, according to
Emirates News Agency (WAM), a partner of TV BRICS. More than a thousand athletes took part in the competition.

At the same time, the Women’s Volleyball World Championship was held in Bangkok, the capital of Thailand. The Brazilian team won bronze medals, defeating Japan 3-2 in a five-set match, according to
Agencia Brasil.
