Iranian female karate fighter wins gold at Asian Championships



Iran’s women’s team finished the championship with one gold, one silver and two bronze medals

Iranian athlete Atousa Golshadnezhad became the Asian champion in karate. This is reported by
Pars Today, a partner of TV BRICS.

The competition was held in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. In the final in the weight category up to 61kg Golshadnezhad defeated Uzbekistan’s representative Sevinch Otaboyeva 5:1 and won the gold medal.

Fatemeh Saadati won silver in the 55kg weight category. Sara Bahmanyar, on the other hand, won a bronze medal in the under 50kg category.

In the men’s category, Iran’s Morteza Nemati was the finalist. In the bout for the gold medal in the 75kg weight category, he lost to Nurkanat Azhikanov from Kazakhstan 3:5 and won silver.

The Iranian men’s team also won a silver medal in the team kumite (a series of bouts between national teams), one of the key stages of the tournament.
