Fereshteh Pirani, a master’s student in midwifery at the university’s School of Nursing and Midwifery, was awarded the silver medal at the 5th International Invention and Innovation Competition of the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations.
The competition, held virtually from 15–17 August 2025, featured over 1,100 inventions from 27 countries. Pirani’s invention is a wearable AI-powered device that detects colic pain in infants and delivers tailored, non-invasive relief solutions. The system aims to reduce unnecessary doctor visits, lower healthcare costs, and improve the quality of life for babies and their families.
The university praised Pirani for her achievement, describing it as a source of pride for the scientific community and the School of Nursing and Midwifery. The faculty expressed hope for continued accomplishments by its students on both national and global stages.
