
At the Asian Weightlifting Championships held in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, Iranian heavyweight lifter Alireza Yousefi delivered a standout performance in the +110kg category, breaking a new world benchmark in the clean and jerk and securing three medals across the competition.

Competing in the super-heavyweight division, Yousefi opened his snatch campaign with a successful lift of 177kg, followed by 184kg. He narrowly missed his attempt at 189kg, finishing the discipline with a bronze medal.
After completing a 248kg lift, he initially failed at 261kg, but successfully returned to the same weight on his final attempt. The 261kg lift secured him the gold medal and established a new world standard in the discipline.
With a combined total of 445kg, Yousefi completed his campaign with a silver medal in the overall standings, marking one of the most successful performances of the championship, the source claimed.
