Iran’s national wrestling teams achieved historic milestones at the 2025 World Championships, setting unique records across both Greco-Roman and freestyle disciplines. This is reported by

In Greco-Roman wrestling, Iran secured eight medals – four gold, two silver, and two bronze – claiming the world championship title for the second time in 11 years. The team became the youngest in the competition and achieved unprecedented feats, including rapid victories in early rounds and decisive wins over top-ranked opponents.
In freestyle wrestling, Iranian athletes earned seven medals – two gold, two silver, and three bronze – bringing the combined total across both disciplines to 15 medals. This harvest set the record for the highest number of combined medals in a single World Championship for Iran.
Athletes from other BRICS countries also distinguished themselves on the international stage. The Brazilian futsal team won the Futsal Nations Cup. According to
Agencia Brasil, the team secured the title for the second time in the tournament’s history, completing the competition with a perfect record of four wins from four matches.
At the same time, China claimed the Women’s Hockey Asia Cup title, defeating India 4-1 in the final to win their first continental crown in 16 years and secure direct qualification for the 2026 FIH Women’s Hockey World Cup, reported
