Non-oil exports from Iran to Africa doubled in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (21 March – 22 September), reaching US$675 million. This was reported by
Tehran Times, a partner of TV BRICS.
This figure represents 80 per cent of Iran’s total exports to the African continent last year, and by the end of the year, the current trend could result in a ten-year record.
Iran is interested in non-oil exports, seeing in cooperation with African countries primarily a huge potential for engineering and technical interaction. In particular, the country is ready to offer assistance in the design, construction and operation of water supply facilities.
“With many years of experience in managing water resources in arid and semi-arid regions, Iran is a reliable partner for African countries seeking to develop their water infrastructure,” the publication cites the words of Reza Hadji Karim, Chairman of the Iran Water Resources Federation.
Eight specialised committees at the headquarters of the African Office of the Iranian Trade Development Organisation are working on developing cooperation in agriculture and trade, as well as maritime and air transport.
In addition, planning is underway for an African summit in the next Iranian year, which will begin on 21 March 2026.
