Kazakhstan hosts 19th meeting of secretaries of security councils of SCO member states

A protocol was signed at the end of the meeting

The next meeting of the secretaries of the Security Councils of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) countries will be held in China next year.

On Wednesday in Astana at the regular, 19th, meeting, the secretaries of the Security Councils discussed issues of further development of cooperation mechanisms to counter terrorism, separatism and extremism, illegal trafficking of drugs and weapons, transnational organised crime, as well as cooperation in the field of international information security.

Chinese State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Wang Xiaohong urged Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) member states to deepen practical cooperation in addressing security issues.

During the meeting, Wang expressed willingness to work with all sides to actively implement the Global Security Initiative, promote the Shanghai spirit, strengthen organisation building, mutual assistance, and maintain solidarity and mutual trust. This was reported by

He said China is willing to work with all sides to resist external interference, pursue common development, focus on counter-terrorism and terrorism prevention, deepen practical cooperation, boost scientific and technological capabilities, cope with new types of crimes and jointly tackle security issues, so as to make positive contributions to safeguarding regional and world peace and tranquility.
