Minister Nurtleu reiterated the country’s target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. He emphasised the importance of moving from reactive to preventive strategies in environmental governance, including early warning systems and improved disaster preparedness through multilateral cooperation.
According to the source, the country is implementing a nationwide tree-planting initiative aiming to grow two billion trees. In 2024, the water level in the northern basin of the Aral rose by 42 per cent.
Nurtleu encouraged the broader BRICS community to join efforts in strengthening primary healthcare systems worldwide.
Kazakhstan also expressed support for Brazil’s initiative on the use of artificial intelligence in healthcare and advocated for building joint BRICS capacities to respond to future epidemics. In conclusion, Nurtleu invited all BRICS countries to participate in the 2026 Regional Environmental Summit in Kazakhstan, organised in partnership with the United Nations, to advance global climate governance.
