Kazakhstan records red-listed snow leopard

A rare shot of a snow leopard has been recorded in a national park in Kazakhstan

In Kazakhstan’s national park, was captured a rare shot of a snow leopard (Panthera uncia), which is listed in the country’s Red Book. The unique shot was taken as part of research work carried out by park staff at watering grounds, according to the Committee of Forestry and Wildlife of the Ministry of Ecology reports.

“The presence of the snow leopard indicates a favourable environmental situation and confirms the effectiveness of nature protection measures implemented in the park,” the ministry stressed.

Monitoring of the population of rare animals continues within the framework of the state programme on environmental protection. This is reported by

It should be noted that earlier were recorded leopard and Turkestan lynx, which indicates the preservation of biodiversity in the region.
