Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi has appointed the Economic Freedom Fighter’s (EFF) Nkululeko Dunga, as the MEC for Finance during a reshuffle of his provincial cabinet.
Dunga replaces the African National Congress’s (ANC) Lebogang Maile, who has been reassigned to lead the Education portfolio.
Lesufi says the changes will bring more stability to the province.

EFF spokesperson Sinawo Thambo says EFF has secured a very critical position in the executive and will be in charge of stabilizing the finances of the province and ensuring that services are provided to the people of Gauteng moving forward.
“The person we have submitted to represent the EFF there is Nkululeko Dunga, of course, he has experience as an MMC of finance from the city of Ekurhuleni, where we saw equity revenue collection levels and every objective being reached. So, we’re very pleased that this announcement has been made and we look forward to ensuring that we participate fully and meaningfully in that government.”
