Lula announces major investment in Brazilian state

Initiatives include sports fields, expansion of the marina, and the supply of equipment to schools

Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva unveiled a comprehensive investment package for the state of Maranhao.

The expansion of Avenida Litoranea includes the creation of a public transport corridor and a bicycle path, while the Ithaca Port project involves the construction of 602 kilometres of transmission line across the state, which will create a renewable energy hub. This is reported by
Brasil 247, a partner of TV BRICS.

In addition, a warrant was issued for the expansion of Pier 98 at the Port of Ithaca and the extension of the Port Authority Transfer Agreement for another 25 years, which will increase the capacity to handle more than 106 vessels per year.

The investment package also includes the construction of 31 community sports centres in various towns in Maranhao, each including a football field, basketball court, walking track and children’s playground.

Communications Minister Juscelino Filho contributed to the news by announcing the delivery of 2,500 computers for public schools and the extension of broadband to more than 10,300 public schools in the state.
