The countries plan to expand dual-degree programmes, joint study programmes and academic exchanges. Particular attention will be paid to training specialists for agriculture, nuclear energy, logistics, transport and the mining industry.

In addition, the parties agreed to hold annual meetings of a joint commission on higher education. It will monitor the implementation of joint projects and identify new areas of cooperation in science, innovation and specialist training.

Malaysia intends to expand educational opportunities for students from Central Asia, including through flexible programmes and short courses.

Around 1,400 students from Kazakhstan are currently studying in Malaysia. In total, 3,716 students from Central Asian countries are enrolled at Malaysian universities.
