Minister: Egypt to increase oil production

Egypt will increase oil production and ensure uninterrupted supplies of petroleum products. This was stated by the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, Karim Badawi, according to Daily News Egypt, a partner of TV BRICS.

According to the Minister, these are priority tasks. He highlighted the special role of the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation (EGPC). It must operate as a unified entity: combining the efforts of its divisions, monitoring the work of its companies and making full use of existing capacity.

Badawi called for the acceleration of projects in the oil sector, an increase in operational efficiency and an improvement in economic performance. The return on assets and resources must be maximised. The statement was made during a meeting with the EGPC Executive Board.

Participants discussed plans for production, exploration and geological surveys together with investment partners. The discussion centred on the supply of petroleum products, the refining of crude oil, and the efficiency with which products are processed and distributed. Measures to ensure the needs of the domestic market are met and to guarantee regular supplies to various sectors of the state were considered separately.

According to the Minister, these efforts will improve productivity and enhance the quality of services for citizens. Work to attract investment and expand exploration, geological surveying and production will continue.

A specific requirement is to strictly adhere to the highest standards of occupational health and safety and environmental protection at all work sites.
