Moscow discusses development of international volunteering
New humanitarian projects were presented at the meeting
A press conference dedicated to the expansion of international volunteering was held in Russia. The event was organised by the African Initiative and the Volunteers of Peace platform.
During the meeting, the key areas of the platform’s work in 2025 were presented. The main priorities are projects in Kenya, Tanzania, and Ethiopia, planned for the period from 22 May to 8 July. Participants will, among other things, build wells in Tanzania and help provide food and education for children in Kenya.
The press conference also focused on the plans of the non-profit organisation HOPE Worldwide Indonesia. From August to December 2025, volunteers in Jakarta will conduct health checks, wellness activities and public health promotion campaigns, including support for people’s psycho-emotional well-being.
For his part, Dmitry Kuznetsov, curator of the Volunteers of Peace platform and member of the Russian State Duma, emphasised the importance of international volunteering as an effective tool for developing global cooperation and helping those in need.
“Today it is especially important for us to join forces to help people and build international dialogue on the foundation of common spiritual and moral guidelines. It is through joint good deeds that we can overcome cultural and political barriers,” he said.
Also, the initiative’s coordinator in Kenya, Victoria Sanchez, spoke about how volunteer help affects local communities.
“We see how our help really changes people’s lives. For many children, the simple opportunity to study or get a hot lunch becomes the first step towards their future. This inspires us to continue and expand our projects despite the challenges,” she said.
The Volunteers of Peace platform brings together participants from different countries and works with parliaments, embassies, non-profit organisations, and the private sector.
