A grand award ceremony for the winners of the All-Russian Chinese Painting Competition “Ambassador’s Grand Prix” 2025 took place at the Chinese Cultural Centre in Moscow. The event gathered Russian artists, art enthusiasts, and officials from both countries. Over 300 works were submitted to the competition in the genres of traditional Chinese guohua painting: xieyi, gongbi, and landscape. Winners were determined by a jury from the China Academy of Art.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the People’s Republic of China to the Russian Federation, Zhang Hanhui, stated that the competition has become an important bridge in cultural exchange between the two countries.
“True art brings hearts closer. By mastering the techniques of Chinese painting, our Russian friends truly immerse themselves in traditional Chinese philosophy and heritage. And through their creativity, they themselves become messengers of friendship, connecting our cultures,” the diplomat emphasised.

He also reported that with the support of the Embassy and the Cultural Centre, 16 winners from previous years had undertaken creative trips to China.
“The Chinese Embassy in Russia will continue to actively support all humanitarian initiatives. Let us sow the seeds of friendship together so that in the future we can collectively reap the abundant fruits of cooperation,” stated Zhang Hanhui.
Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Arts, Tatyana Kochemasova, highlighted the deep cultural connection revealed by the competition.
“The idea of this project is unique because it reminds us of the astonishing harmony between the cultures of Russia and China. […] Undoubtedly, Guohua is a unique space of poetry, incredible light, kindness, warmth, and love for the world […] This unique unity and richness of the world is, perhaps, best and most expressively manifested in creativity, in fine art, which requires no translation,” she said.
In addition to the official part, the event featured a concert where Chinese and Russian artists presented Chinese songs and dances. The best competition works can be viewed at an exhibition. It will run at the Chinese Cultural Centre until 26th December 2025.

The All-Russian Chinese Painting Competition “Ambassador’s Grand Prix” 2025 was organised by the Chinese Cultural Centre to encourage Russian artists and deepen friendship between the peoples of the two countries.
